42 cars at the start, divided into LMP2, LMP3 and GTE, for a “fiery” round on the ups and downs of the Enzo & Dino Ferrari in Imola, a classic Endurance race “concentrated” only in 4h, where you need to find the right balance between setup, track variables and pure performance. The glorious Imola track, so loved by the drivers, is preparing to experience three days of top-level motorsport, as it will also be the last race before the endurance event par excellence, namely the 24h of Le Mans, ” The Great One “as the experts say.

In addition to the teams that will “defend” the Italian flag, also important drivers, such as the young German Sophia Floersch, the unfortunate protagonist a few years ago of a terrible accident in the F3 in Macau, but who recovered completely and was already a protagonist also in the 24 of Le Mans. the presence of Nicolas Lapierre, Juan Manuel Correa, Louis Deletraz, Memo Rojas and Jack Aitken, for a respectable fleet of drivers. The Italian drivers in LMP2 will be: Francesco Dracone and Sergio Campana (BHK Motorsport), Alessio Rovera (AF Corse).

In the LMP3 class there will be 13 prototypes, 12 of which on the “binomial” Ligier JS P320 – Nissan, while the only DKR Engineering team flying the Luxembourg flag with the Duqueine M30 chassis with Nissan engine, also present here an Italian team. or the Eurointernational with two cars in the entry list.

Unfortunately, there will be no Italian pilots at the start of this category (unless changes occurred after the publication of this article.

Let’s move on to the last category in the race (but not least for the show on the track), that is the GTE class, with 12 cars at the start, there will be 7 Ferrari 488 GTE EVOs (out of 12 total cars), in this line-up at the start, the teams that will bring the car from Maranello will be: Rinaldi Racing, Spirit Of Race, Kessel Racing, JMW Motorsport and the Romagna from Cesena or the Iron Lynx team (with an all-female crew, famously called Iron Dames).

Three Porsche 911 RSR GTEs and two Aston Martin Vantage AMRs will also compete against the Ferrari “squadron” to battle the cars from Maranello on their home circuit. As mentioned, an Italian Iron Lynx team with two cars is present; while the “patrol” of Italian drivers is well fed: Gabriele Lancieri from Imola and Fabrizio Crestani (Rinaldi Racing), Matteo Cressoni and Davide Rigon (Iron Lynx), finally Lorenzo Ferrari and Gianmaria “Jimmy” Bruni (former F1 driver Minardi) with the Porsche of the Proton Competition team.

The 4 Hours of Imola ELMS 2022 will be characterized by the presence of support races such as Michelin Le Mans Cup, Ligier European Series and Sprint Cup by Funyo.
